A Chicken Dinner Tablescape
When I was planning this tablescape a phrase kept going through my mind, “Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner”. I wondered what the origin of that phrase was and we searched online and found the following. “The exact origin of the phrase winner winner chicken dinner is disputed, but it may have come from gamblers. The most popular origin story of the term is that a chicken dinner at a Las Vegas casino used to cost $2, the same amount as a standard bet. So, if you won a bet, you won a chicken dinner. However, David Guzman, author of a book on craps lingo, said that the term comes from back-alley gamblers during the Great Depression of the 1930s. These desperate gamblers would bet whatever they had in hopes of winning a chicken dinner.” Whatever the origin of this phrase, this is definitely a tablescape for a chicken dinner! I can’t remember where I bought the heavy cotton green and white gingham tablecloth several years ago but if you google it, you can find one easily.
I looked for quite a while before I found a chicken salad plate that I liked. I finally found these Country Collage chicken salad plates at Replacements, Ltd., online. They were designed by Susan Winget and produced by Certified International. They have been discontinued but you can still find them online on the secondary market.
This is one if Fiesta’s dinner plates in the color Shamrock. This color has been discontinued but you can still find them online sometimes. I bought them at Macys several years ago. I have this plate in several different colors now. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.
This charger was made by Mikasa and it is called Color Spectrum in Royal Blue. I love this charger, it is heavy and a great color. I have this charger in several other colors as well. This charger was discontinued but I bought them all a few at a time on Ebay over several years.
I use this frosted green flatware set often during the year, I am really glad that I bought it. It is called Madeline Green and I bought the set at World Market several years ago. I really like the frosted design on the handles. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.
I bought the green cotton napkins at Pier 1 many years ago. These hen and baby chick napkin rings were made by Fitz and Floyd between 2006 and 2015 and the pattern was called Ricamo. I just love all the different colors on this napkin ring. I found them on Ebay a few years ago to use on a Farm Animals Tablescape that I did. You can see that tablescape here.

These wooden chicken place card holders were sold at Pier 1 many years ago but I bought them on Ebay. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.
The green goblet on the left came from Macy’s a few years ago. The pattern is Qualia Glass Meridian. I love the height and the beautiful green color. I joined a website a couple years ago that sends me a list of all the Estate Sales in my area every weekend with photos of what is for sale. I am always looking for tablescaping items. Hubby bought this blue glass goblet with a clear stem at an estate sale a few years ago, I wish they had had more for sale. I love this goblet. It is a perfect blue color and I predict I will be using it often. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.
This ceramic chicken was another estate sale find a few months ago. I had been looking for a chicken to use as a centerpiece but they were all the wrong size or ugly. I sent Hubby to an estate sale to actually look at a different chicken but he found this one instead and it is perfect! It was cheap too! I set it on a crocheted green place mat that I had.
If you read my blog you often see that I have themed salt and pepper sets on my tablescapes that help carry out the theme of the table, and fill space on the left and right of the centerpiece. I found this novelty ceramic chickens salt and pepper set on Amazon last month.
This Cosmos Gifts Chicken salt and pepper set came from Amazon too, last week.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Definitely serving chicken on this tablescape!
