Skulls on a Halloween Tablescape
I found this Warm Tour Gothic Skull damask style tablecloth on Amazon last summer. I knew I was going to be doing a skull themed Halloween tablescape this year so when I saw this tablecloth I knew I was going to buy it. I did a Skull Halloween tablescape a few years ago but this one is very different. You can see that skull tablescape here. (This is actually the third Skull tablescape I have done, I did one several years ago too.)
I found these melamine Way to Celebrate Skull appetizer or tidbit plates on Amazon last year. They were exactly what I was looking for, a perfect match for the tablecloth, serendipity!
I added an extra plate, a salad plate, to this plate stack because I wanted a certain color combination. I bought these black melamine salad plates online at Home Depot last summer. They were part of their Home Decorator Collection and they were made by Trenblay. An unusual plate design that is appearing more often now. I have noticed that plate designers are changing the shape of the edges of plates more and more often now.
I wanted to add another color to the black and white design on this table setting so I decided to use orange. Fiesta dinner plates are some of my go-to dinner plates when I need a basic dinner plate in a primary color. The color of this Fiesta plate is called Poppy and I love it because it is a true orange color. I have this dinner plate in several different colors and I use them often. Our every day dishes are this Fiesta plate design in the color Scarlet. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.
I have a few different white chargers but this is the one I seem to use the most on my tablescapes. The beaded rim design always adds an additional bit of interest to the plate stack. This white beaded charger came from Williams Sonoma and it is called Antique Beaded. It was one of the first chargers I bought years ago when I started tablescaping. A basic white charger is always a good purchase when you are starting a tablescaping collection. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers, please click here.
I have this Ginkgo International Le Prix flatware in black and red and over the years I added yellow, moss green, and this color called persimmon. I can’t remember where I bought the set online but if you google it, something will probably pop up. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.
I think these orange cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods several years ago. I love the bright orange color. I think I found these Tahari skull napkin rings at HomeGoods. They were a silver color and Hubby painted them white for me. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.
These skull place card holders came from Grandin Road online several years ago. Their Halloween catalog and collections are amazing every year! I have twelve of these napkin rings and this year I decided to paint six of them white so I could use them on this tablescape. The place cards came from Amazon. This black goblet is a newer addition to my goblet collection. I bought them last year. I have black goblets that are shorter than this goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height that were all black. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon last year. The advertisement said that they are disposable but I plan to keep them for a while until I can find some black glass ones that are the same height. I found these white goblets at Walmart a few years ago. They were made by Artland and the pattern is called Veranda. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most often) for your tablescaping collection here.
I bought this large white skull at HomeGoods to use as a centerpiece a few years ago. It was all white so I went around the house looking for something easy to use for black eyes so that it would match the other skulls on the table and ended up using two black earrings. They should have been a bit larger but he looks pretty good!
